Emergency/Urgent Care

Unlike humans, dogs and cats are unable to vocalize when they are feeling unwell, but there are unmistakable signs that your pet needs urgent care from a veterinary clinic.

Serious Gastrointestinal Distress: When owning a dog or a cat, a little vomit is simply part of life: cats have hairballs and dogs will eat nearly anything they find. Nevertheless, there are clear differences between ordinary gastrointestinal upset and the kind of distress that will send your pet to the veterinary clinic. If your pet is drooling excessively, it’s a strong indication that your pet ate something that doesn’t agree with its system, and it might even be poisonous. Frequent vomiting, several times within one day, and diarrhea are also signs of illness or poisoning. If you see your animal exhibiting any of these behaviors, take it to the animal hospital immediately.

Trauma: If your pet is injured by a moving vehicle, falls from a great height, or is otherwise hurt, limping, or bleeding, take it to the veterinarian immediately. Even if your pet is not bleeding, seems aware, and does not appear to have any broken bones, it still needs to go to the vet to make sure everything is fine internally.

Difficulty Eliminating Waste: Unfortunately, difficulty eliminating waste can be just as troubling as diarrhea. If you see your dog or cat straining to pass waste, contact an animal hospital right away. Such behavior can be the sign of a whole host of problems, some of which are potentially fatal if not treated immediately.
