Along with regular examinations, vaccinations are an essential component of your pet’s health care plan. Vaccinations prevent a number of contagious diseases. Without vaccinations, many of these diseases can be fatal. Vaccinating your pet is a must!
Your pet is unique and his or her vaccination requirements are similarly unique. All pets are treated individually and evaluated for risk of disease. Vaccinations are then given accordingly.
Microchipping
If your pet is lost, you want him or her returned home as quickly as possible. A microchip is an effective way to ensure your pet returns home safely. A microchip is about the size and shape of a grain of rice and is implanted underneath your pet’s skin (usually between the shoulder blades) in a procedure similar to a vaccination. Each microchip is encoded with identifying information about your pet. Veterinary hospitals and animal shelters across the country are equipped with special scanners capable of detecting and reading microchips; if your pet is missing, his or her microchip is scanned and the information it contains is used to reunite you and your companion. The LovingCare Animal Hospital uses the AVID microchip system. Please ask a staff member for more details about microchipping your pet.
